Did you say FREE?
Yes, the City of Tallahassee has a valuable opportunity for all residential electric and natural gas customers. They provide free home energy audits to pinpoint energy concerns and advise customers of ways to conserve energy and water, which in turn will help them save money. They will recommend to consumers where to focus their efforts & prioritize their home renovations for maximal benefit for the consumer and the environment.
The first step is to call 891-4968 and let them know you would like to set up an energy audit. At your convenience, they will send an energy auditor to your home to look at all variables. The auditor will examine all your appliances, your HVAC systems (heating, cooling, ductwork, and filters), your insulation, doors, windows, thermostat, electronics, pumps , shower head, the structure of your home and past consumption records
Then the auditor will formulate a plan and make recommendations of ways to save energy, water and money and improve the function of your home for the most benefit to all.
The City also offers rebates, grants, and low interest loans for ceiling insulation, natural gas, solar components, and many energy saving appliances. The Energy Audit is the first step for many of these programs.
